INTERIOR DECORATING, DESIGN & FURNISHINGS

Karen Wray, Design Specialist, won numerous design awards for her Summit County Parade of Homes between 2006-2018 for both Interior Finishes & Furnishings and Mountain Living Magazine's best overall home for the Ptarmigan Ranch Parade Home. Her work was featured in the cover stories of the February 2009 & March 2012 Log Home Living Magazines.

Her designs are focused on livability, durability and lifestyle. She has keen awareness respecting budgets, and can often get the "look for less". With most clients being remote, she uses common on-line resources like Pinterest and Houzz to help communicate the overall look and feel the homeowner wishes to create. Her goals are to create unique spaces that fit her client's vision, and tries not to impose her personal style on the projects.

She has a passion for light control. Karen has completed the American Lighting Association "Lighting Consultant" Certification. She understands the unique requirements of lighting Log and Timber Frame Homes with their exposed beams, light absorbing wood walls, and vaulted ceilings. She also understands the key roll proper window placement, size and function make in the initial home design as well as the proper window coverings to control light by time of day and season. She is a certified dealer for Hunter Douglas and Graber Blinds.

Karen can be contracted separately from home package purchase for interior finish selection assistance. She stays up to date with current trends and materials with on-line webinars, Las Vegas Furniture Market and Dallas ALA Lightovation annually.

DESIGN PROCESS AND COMMUNICATION

A designer's or decorator's roll in a project should never be to tell a client what to do, but rather read their personality, lifestyle needs, color preferences and other factors that go into making a home livable, warm and inviting. We spend a lot of time getting to know each other. Our creativity, combined with designer resources and wholesale accounts, allows us to work with the client's original inspiration photos to create beautiful homes & lifelong friendships.

"When we started planning for our Breckenridge home, the thought of choosing all the finishes and furnishing an entire home prior to even walking through it was overwhelming to me. Karen came to my rescue! She was involved in our entire interior design process from start to finish. Her creative ideas couple with her sensitivity to my needs was a perfect partnership leading to our absolute joy with our completed home. Extremely professional, tremendous competence, and high energy beautifully describe Karen Wray. I would highly recommend Karen and her interior decorating services to anyone who want an outstanding appointed home. --Lynn Dahl, Breckenridge, CO & Leawood, KS"
